She was like a queen ruling over a tawdry empire of lurid sexual abuse with a tattered tiara.
“Imperious” was how one of Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein’s former housekeepers described the 59-year-old socialite.

But we knew that, didn’t we?
Maxwell is currently on trial in New York City for eight counts of sex trafficking and perjury. She has denied any wrongdoing and, in fact, claims she was oblivious to her one-time pedophile paramour’s twisted predilections.
Nothing unusual about half-naked 15-year-old girls roaming around the pool. Nothing at all.
Epstein has to answer to a higher power. He left this mortal coil in August 2019 taking his multitude of secrets with him to the grave. That leaves his alleged pimp, Maxwell, holding the bag.
She was a stickler for rules, former housekeeper Juan Alessi, 72, testified. Maxwell wanted the mansions run like five-star hotels. And, uh, no eye contact with Mr. Epstein.
In fact, household and other staff were given a manual packed with the queen’s demands:
— “Try and anticipate the needs of Mr. Epstein, Ms. Maxwell and their guests.”
— “Do not discuss personal problems with guests”; “Unobtrusive is the key”; “SMILE!”.
— “NEVER disclose Mr. Epstein or Ms. Maxwell’s activities or whereabouts to anyone.”
— “See nothing. Say nothing.”
— Proper language, PLEASE! “‘You don’t say’: ‘Yeah,’ ‘Sure,’ ‘No problem,’ ‘You bet,’ ‘Gotcha,’ ‘Right’ and ‘I dunno.'”
— Get a compliment? “You are very kind” and “Thank, you, Ms. ____. I enjoy doing it.”
“I was supposed to be blind, deaf, to say nothing,” Alessi said, adding there were a slew of other demands including that a gun had to be placed in the pedo’s bedside table.
Alessi was typically up at 5 a.m. to bathe Ms. Maxwell’s Yorkshire terrier, Max, and then he had to cook breakfast. He also had to clean up after Epstein’s notorious massages, finding sex toys he would clean and return to Ms. Maxwell’s room where he saw porn tapes and a black leather ensemble.
“From the day she came to the house she right away took over. She mentioned to me she was going to be the lady of the house. She also told me she was in charge of (Epstein’s) other properties,” Alessi testified, adding Maxwell was with Epstein “95% of the time.”
The former housekeeper recalled meeting the first witness, Jane. Alessi guessed she was 14 or 15.

And he remembered young Virginia Roberts, who claims she had underage sex with Prince Andrew at the behest of Epstein. Andrew too, denies all.
Maxwell saw Roberts while allegedly looking for new talent and yelled: “STOP!” Alessi thought she looked around 14 years old.

“I stopped the car and she opened the door and went towards this girl who was coming down the ramp. She looked young. She had blonde hair and was wearing a white uniform like a nurse,” Alessi recalled, adding he saw Roberts the next day at the Palm Beach mansion.
The stories covering Maxwell’s character and jaw-dropping sense of entitlement have been around long before she was arrested and put on trial for allegedly playing a leading role in the sickening machinery of Epstein’s perversions.
But after five days, there really have been no surprises.
Maxwell at this point in the game is coming off exactly as we thought she would. It’s who she is.
