The Royal Family acknowledged Prince Harry’s birthday for the first time in three years.
Both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace posted on their social media pages within hours of each other, in what many believe could be a carefully coordinated olive branch extended to the Duke of Sussex, who turned the big 4-0 on Sunday.
“Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!,” the Royal Family account, responsible for posts of King Charles and Queen Camilla, captioned alongside a photo of a smiling Harry in a grey suit.
The Prince and Princess of Wales reshared the message along with one of their own: “Wishing a Happy 40th Birthday to The Duke of Sussex!”

The Daily Mail noted that the picture that was chosen originally also features Harry’s wife Meghan Markle — but she was cropped out, along with others.
The photo was taken in 2018 during a visit to Dublin when the couple was still working royals.

In 2021, Meghan celebrated her milestone 40th birthday and the Royal Family sent their well wishes, despite their issues.
It is unknown whether Charles or William reached out to Harry personally on his big day as that is considered to be a “private” matter.
It is believed that Harry could be travelling to the U.K. later this year to attend the Wellchild Awards as he was the charity’s patron and remains involved with the organization.
The last time Charles andd Harry are believed to have seen each other was in February after the king’s cancer diagnosis was announced and his youngest son insisted on flying across the pond to see him.
However, the Mail reported that the two barely spent 30 minutes together and it is unknown whether they have communicated since.
Harry returned to England in May but the two men didn’t meet, despite sources close to the Sussexes saying Harry wanted to connect.
