The men were watching cockfights in different districts – Kakinada and East Godavari – on Sunday to mark the three-day Hindu festival of Sankranti, New India Express reported.
The victim in Kakinada, Gande Suryapraksha Rao, prepared his rooster for a fight by tying blades to its claws.
The animated crowd, however, spooked Rao’s prized cock, causing it to fly in the air and landed on the owner, which resulted in the bladed claws slashing the victim’s leg.
That same night, in the East Godavari district, an unlucky spectator identified by the outlet as K Padmaraju was standing too close to the action when a bladed bird sliced a key nerve in the fan’s hand during the fight.
