Man found dead in kettle cooker at New Jersey food processing plant

A worker was found dead inside a kettle at a New Jersey food processing facility earlier this week.

Dale R. Devilli, 63, of Millville, was discovered in the machine at a Lassonde Pappas plant in Cumberland County, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers arrived at the facility Monday morning and found the employee still inside the kettle, cops said.

The responding officers added that the investigation is active but “nothing suspicious appeared in nature.”

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also investigating.

Industries Lassonde Inc., a Canadian firm that owns Lassonde Pappas, issued a statement.

“Early Monday morning, an accident that caused a fatal injury to one of our employees occurred at our facility,” spokesperson Alexander Roberton told the Vineland Daily Journal.

“We are devastated by the loss of our friend and colleague and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”

Devilli worked as a millwright at the company that produces fruit and vegetable juices, according to an online obituary.

“He will be remembered for his years of expertise and vigorous work ethic,” the obit read. “He hardly ever missed a day of work and took pride in his job.”

Devilli is survived by his wife, Allison, of 28 years and their two daughters.
