'NOT COHERENT': CNN's Jake Tapper rips into Joe Biden

Jake Tapper is not impressed with Joe Biden’s media appearances following the U.S. president’s disastrous debate performance last month.
In recent days, Biden has been on a crusade to stem the tide of voices calling for him to drop out of the presidential race and let a new Democratic nominee take the reins and face former President Donald Trump in November’s election.
Biden was interviewed by ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, which aired on Friday. He also appeared on two Black radio shows and called into MSNBC’s Morning Joe program on Monday.
However, the CNN host ripped into Biden for his post-debate media rounds, pointing out how his appearances haven’t reassured the American voters that he can do the job for a second term and well into his 80s.
“I’m getting frustrated by the elites – not you guys – the elites in the party, oh, they know so much more,” Biden told Morning Joe in a soundbite played by Tapper.
“Any of these guys that don’t think I should run, run against me. Announce for president. Challenge me at the convention.”
Tapper said the president wants to frame the debate between members of the elites in the Democratic Party and average voters.
“In reality, 72% of voters say that they believe President Biden is too old,” Tapper said. “That’s according to CNN’s most recent polling. Voters have been saying this for quite a long time.
“The reality is that the Democratic elites are mostly late to acknowledge these age and ability issues compared to the rest of the public. The elites have been forced to reckon with it after the debate, just 11 days ago.”
Tapper then went ahead and played soundbites of Biden having difficulty getting his point across.
“The fact of the matter is how can you assure you’re going to be out on, you know, on your way to go, you know, work tomorrow age age wasn’t, you know, the idea that I’m too old,” Tapper repeated what Biden had said.
“Keep in mind that soundbite is supposed to be reassuring to those Democratic supporters who have gone wobbly,” Tapper added.
During an interview with former Philadelphia radio host Andrea Lawful-Sanders, Biden that he was the “first black woman to serve with a black president.”
“Not coherent,” Tapper said.
Tapper also took issue with the Biden campaign giving Lawful-Sanders a list of questions to ask him. She admitted to CNN that four of the eight questions given to her were asked during the interview.
“That is a huge no-no in journalism and the host was fired for it, but it remains quite telling that in the Biden campaign’s efforts to show that the president has not missed a step, his campaign felt the need to feed questions to the hosts for a call-in radio interview,” Tapper said.
