Weekly baths are enough for the children of this mother.

That’s what holistic nurse practitioner Veronica Max admitted during an appearance on the Him and Her podcast, hosted by Lauren and Michael Bosstick.

With the podcast subject of how to manage your health and use holistic health practices, the subject turned to delayed bathing and Max was asked how often she puts her offspring into the tub.

“My children probably bathe maybe once a week,” Max told the hosts.

Michael Bosstick said he and his wife Lauryn — the creator of the blog, book and podcast named The Skinny Confidential —  often received flack for delayed bathing of both their children, or waiting more than a day to wash a newborn after birth in order to maintain body temperature and to prevent hypothermia.

“Why would you need to bathe them? Why are they dirty?” Max said, replying to Michael.

The nurse said her priority is wanting her children to recognize their bodily autonomy and make their own decisions, stating that she just lets her “kids do what they want to.”

“I have four children. I’m not going to fight with my kids over stupid things like bathing,” said Max, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Max later admitted that she sometimes bathes her children (ages nine, seven, five and two) less than once a week.

“We have a pool so they swim in the summer, so I guess we call that bathing, so it’s probably even less than that,” she said. “Our kids have autonomy over their bodies and their rooms, and they can make all the choices around that, assuming they’re safe.”

The YouTube comment section for the video was filled with viewer disgust; some claimed Max didn’t want to parent or teach her children how to take care of themselves.

“Missing a day is one thing, but showering only once a week … girl just say you don’t want to parent,” one wrote.

“It’s so important to get the chlorine off their skin and hair!” wrote another.
