Princess Michael of Kent breaks both wrists in fall down palace stairs

Princess Michael of Kent is on the mend after tumbling down the stairs of Kensington Palace.
The 79-year-old, who lives there with husband Prince Michael of Kent, attended King Charles’ pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace where she showed up with both of her wrists in splints.

The royal, who was born Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnit and whose husband is a first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth, had her arms full of coats when the accident happened, the Daily Mail reported.
She broke multiple small bones when she tried to break her fall by putting out her hands.
“So many things that you rely on being able to do, like cleaning your teeth, are impossible,” Princess Michael said, according to the publication.
“I can type with one finger on a mobile, but I can’t use a laptop.”
She added: “I am told that, after an accident like this, if you do one wrong movement on top of the unhealed bones, you are back where you started.”
The royal, who underwent heart surgery last year, appeared in good spirits at Charles’ traditional lunch as her road to recovery continues.
Prince and Princess Michael are the parents of Lady Gabriella Windsor, whose husband Thomas Kingston died suddenly at his parents’ home in the Cotswolds earlier this year.
Kingston suffered a “catastrophic head injury,” an inquest said, with police, saying a gun was present at the scene, and concluding his death was “not suspicious.”
“Tom was a lovely man, so kind and thoughtful. They were very happy together,” Princess Michael told Majesty magazine in a recent interview, according to Tatler.

“We often had them here with Freddie and Sophie and the girls for Sunday lunch,” she said, referring to her son, Lord Frederick Windsor, his wife Sophie Winkleman and their two daughters.
“We never had an inkling anything was wrong,” she added.
Prince and Princess Michael, Gabriella and Frederick — who are not working royals — were all at the King’s pre-Christmas lunch on Dec. 19.
They also attended Kate Middleton’s Together at Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey earlier this month.
