“The strategy now is to move away from focusing on what the Sussexes are doing and place an emphasis on the next generation of royals,” a source told the Express.

“There is very much a feeling of not dwelling on the past but moving forward with the assets they’ve got, which are the younger members of the royal family.

“King Charles is very aware that the younger generation is the future of the monarchy and his focus is to ensure that its legacy remains once he has gone — and that can be secured in the Wales era.”

Prince William, Princess Kate, Princess Anne, her daughter Zara, the Tindall family, Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, are at Balmoral, where talks are taking place.

While there is a lot of focus being placed on the direct line of succession, including William and Kate’s children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, the source said unofficial roles will be created for the likes of Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsor, James Wessex, the Tindall children and Peter Phillips’ two daughters.

The source added that the discussions at Balmoral could also address removing Harry and Meghan’s titles since they stepped down as senior working royals in January 2020 and moved to the U.S. a few months later.

The Express previously reported that Harry’s position as fifth in line to the throne could be in jeopardy after he renounced his British residency in April.

“The order of succession can be altered by statute if a member of the royal family permanently resides outside the U.K. and no longer undertakes royal duties,” an insider said.

“If that were to happen, Harry’s children could also be removed from the line of succession.”
