A man from southern California has been apprehended for allegedly decapitating his parents and their dog.
Officers from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic call at a mobile home in San Juan Capistrano on Tuesday. Upon arrival, cops found the dead bodies of Ronald Walter Gerdvil, 77, Antoinette Gerdvil, 79, and their dog.
All three had reportedly been decapitated.
Police described the scene as “horrific,” as reported by news outlet FOX 11.
Soon after the discovery of the bodies, cops also learned that a “bloody male” was allegedly chasing a maintenance worker from a mobile home park and stole a golf cart.
The suspect, Joseph Brandon Gerdvil, 41, was allegedly found later in the golf cart near the exit of a bicycle trail. He was reportedly shot at by an officer and was struck multiple times by bullets.
Gerdvil was taken to hospital in critical but stable condition.
A neighbour told FOX 11 Gerdvil was reportedly fighting with his father the morning before the deadly attack.
Another neighbour claimed the suspect had a drug issue and was living with his parents.
The suspect will be booked on two counts of homicide upon hospital release, police say.
