The former U.S. president, the leading Republican candidate who’s campaigning for a second term at the White House, said Tuesday on Truth Social that Anheuser-Busch is not “woke” but he is working on a list of companies that are.
“The Bud Light ad was a mistake of epic proportions, and for that a very big price was paid, but Anheuser-Busch is not a woke company,” he wrote. “I can give you plenty that are, am building a list, and might just release it for the world to see.”
Trump said the list would be a good idea, as the “radical left” calls for boycotts of successful companies and people who are politically conservative.
“Very nasty, but it’s the way they play the game,” he wrote.
However, he praised Anheuser-Busch for spending hundreds of millions of dollars on U.S. farmers and thanked the beer company for providing scholarships to families of fallen members of the military.

“Anheuser-Busch is a great American brand that perhaps deserves a second chance,” he continued. “Perhaps, instead, we should be going after those companies that are looking to DESTROY AMERICA!”
Mulvaney, an actor and social media influencer, shared a video to Instagram in April 2023 of a sponsorship campaign with Bud Light as the beer company was working to address a drop in sales and wanted to target a younger audience.
However, the post triggered a backlash among American conservatives, who called for a boycott of the popular brew.
Singer Kid Rock shared a video of him shooting cans of the beer to protest the company’s partnership with Mulvaney.
Weeks after the controversy erupted, the marketing executive who oversaw the partnership took a leave of absence.

Sales of Bud Light haven’t recovered since the backlash.
According to numbers provided to Fox Business by Bump Williams Consulting, Bud Light sales are down approximately 30% year over year for the week ending Jan. 20.
In fact, by June 2023, Modelo Especial surpassed Bud Light to become the top-selling beer brand in the U.S.
