“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public,” read an allegation in a post on the Musk-owned social-media site X on Thursday afternoon, followed by, “Have a nice day, DJT!”

He followed up shortly after: “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”

The Jeffrey Epstein files include people named in legal documents linked to the millionaire financier pedophile who was accused of running a large network of underage girls for sex. Epstein was found dead in his jail cell while awaiting trial in 2019.

The Department of Justice released the “first phase” of files in February, however, the release of the entirety of the documents has been delayed with no known timetable.

Musk’s allegations that Trump is named in the Epstein files have not been proven.

And Trump said in January that he “was never on Epstein’s Plane.”

Trump was previously named in court filings in a lawsuit brought by the late Virginia Giuffre against Ghislane Maxwell. There were no accusations of wrongdoing against Trump.

Giuffre took her own life earlier this year.

For the past several months, Musk and Trump had seemingly had a good personal and professional relationship as Musk headed up his brainchild, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aimed at slashing thousands of federal jobs and cutting costs.

But just over a week ago, Musk announced he was leaving the Trump administration after leading DOGE in a role that was always said to have been temporary. In making his announcement, the world’s richest man thanked Trump for the opportunity.

Efforts to establish new leadership at DOGE are reportedly underway.

Musk’s exit announcement came one day after he criticized Trump’s signature tax and spending bill, calling on Americans to tell their representatives in Washington to “kill the bill.”

The budget, which includes massive tax breaks and more defence spending, was passed by the House of Representatives last month and is now being considered by senators.

Musk called the bill a “disgusting abomination,” immediately widening the rift between him and Trump.

Trump, unsurprisingly, is not staying silent.

“I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago,” Trump said on his Truth Social app. “This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress. It’s a Record Cut in Expenses, $1.6 Trillion Dollars, and the Biggest Tax Cut ever given. If this Bill doesn’t pass, there will be a 68% Tax Increase, and things far worse than that. I didn’t create this mess, I’m just here to FIX IT. This puts our Country on a Path of Greatness. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

“Elon and I had a great relationship,” the President said during his recent Oval Office meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. “I don’t know if we will anymore.”

Earlier, Trump said: “The easiest way to save money in our Budget, Billions and Billions of Dollars, is to terminate Elon’s Governmental Subsidies and Contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn’t do it!”

Trump has also said that “nobody wanted” Musk’s Teslas, and that he “just went CRAZY.”

Musk also reposted a suggestion on social media that he would defeat Trump in their squabble.

“Trump should be impeached and JD Vance should replace him,” read the post that was resposted by Musk who added, “Yes.”
