“You better thank a union member for the five-day work week,” Harris told the crowd with a noticeable shift in her timbre.
“You better thank a union member for sick leave,” she continued amid applause. “You better thank a union member for paid leave. You better thank a union member for vacation time.”
The Libs of TikTok account on X asked, “What did I just watch… what’s with this new accent? The fakeness and cringe here is off the charts.”

GOP strategist Matt Whitlock called Harris’ politicking a “performance.”
He declared: “She changes fake accents like she changes policy positions and political personas. Today she’s talking in a fake southern accent, pretending to be a moderate. Next week she’ll be back to San Francisco liberal.”
Other critics noted Harris dropped the accent in the exact same speech later that day in Pittsburgh.

“Same speech. Two entirely different accents,” conservative commentator Greg Price noted, sharing clips from each rally.
Another clip from the vice president’s speech in Detroit was shared on social media by Trump campaign advisor Alex Bruesewitz, in which she says with a cackle, “Let’s just get through the next 64 days how ‘bout that?”
In a clip of her speaking to the Pittsburgh crowd, she says with a notably different inflection, “So friends, 64 days until the most…election of our lives.”
Omg listen to how Kamala Harris says “64 days” in Detroit vs. how she says it in Pittsburgh just a couple hours apart..
