The New York Post reports that Simone Bryna Kim, 24, of Killeen, had to be physically carried off an airplane in Florida by Miami-Dade Police officers on Tuesday.
Kim was on a flight to Philadelphia from Miami and allegedly threatened a fellow passenger; she was captured on video arguing with the man and was heard to say she would beat him “the f— up.”
A crew member attempted to calm the situation, to no avail.
Local 10 News states that Kim now faces several charges, includingtwo felony charges of battery on a police officer, one felony charge of resisting an officer with violence, three misdemeanour counts of assault on a police officer and a misdemeanour trespassing charge.
She was eventually taken to the airport police station and then to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. She was released after posting bond.
The Kim chaos is not unique. The Federal Aviation Administration reported 2,456 such incidents last year, at least one of which involved flight attendants rather than passengers.
There has been a distinct increase in such events since travel started up again after COVID restrictions ended.
