Geraldine Parkin, 54, of Manchester, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm on her husband, Alfred Parkin, last September.
The court was told the couple had spent Sept. 19, 2022, the day of Her Majesty’s funeral, drinking before the two got into an argument that escalated into an altercation, the Manchester Evening News reported.
Geraldine was “not making sense” during the argument, the court was told, before she “hit” Alfred.
The former teaching assistant then went into the kitchen, “grabbed” two knives and stabbed her husband in the shoulder and the bicep before her son pulled her away, according to the outlet.

She was later found by police in a field with blood on her jacket and fingertips.
Her lawyer said the attack was “impulsive” and “spontaneous” but Geraldine had suffered years of “significant” domestic abuse by Alfred.
She added that while Geraldine was “remorseful” for the attack, there had been a “degree of provocation” from her husband.
The woman also struggled with mental health and alcohol issues, which was acknowledged during sentencing. The recorder (essentially a judge in the U.K.) told Geraldine that she had committed a “serious offence” that could have been even more serious.”
But he said it was “obvious the underlying cause” was her issues with alcohol and her mental health.
She was handed a 12-month suspended sentence and was ordered to get treatment and go to rehab.
