Trump, who was wounded when a bullet grazed his ear in the assassination attempt last Saturday, was “very kind” during the call.

“He was very kind and said he would continue to call me in the days and weeks ahead,” she reportedly wrote, according to commentator Collin Rugg.

“I told him the same thing I told everyone else,” Helen said of her husband. “He left this world a hero, and God welcomed him in. He did not die in vain that day.”

The New York Post has since reported that Trump will attend Comperatore’s funeral, planned for later this week.

On Monday, Helen told the publication that her husband’s final words were, “Get down!”

She told the paper that Corey was “excited” to attend the rally in Butler, Pa., about 20 kilometres from their home in Sarver.

“He’s my hero,” Comperatore said to the newspaper from her home. “He just said, ‘get down!’ That was the last thing he said.

“Me and the kids were all there as a family,” she said. “It was going to be a nice day with the family.”

But that all changed when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks tried to kill Trump.

“He’s my hero,” Helen said of Corey. “He just said, ‘get down!’ That was the last thing he said.”

Helen also told the outlet that President Joe Biden called her family following the incident but she “didn’t want to talk to him.”

She explained: “My husband was a devout Republican, and he would not have wanted me to talk to him.”

She added: “I don’t have any ill-will towards Joe Biden. I’m not one of those people that gets involved in politics. I support Trump, that’s who I’m voting for, but I don’t have ill will towards Biden.”
