Barrett Evans — who works as the company’s chief learning officer, according to his LinkedIn profile — shared a lengthy story on Threads that resulted in his “filter… malfunctioning.”

“Elderly passenger on my flight from San Diego yesterday enjoyed Fox ‘News’ for the entire ride,” Evans wrote under his @chivalryandchampagne account.

“Deplaning and I notice he and his wife getting into their airport wheelchairs to be pushed to next gate,” he continued. “My filter was malfunctioning …”

Evans recounted mocking the pair.

“Love to see you supporting DEI,” he apparently said to them, as one responded, “Not me!”

He claimed he went on to tell them, “Yes — you. That wheelchair, and the human pushing it, are provided at no direct cost to you — rather by a subsidized cost attributed to every passenger in this airport. Provided to level the playing field — for you.”

Evans appeared to equate the Fox News viewer with a right-winger who is against diversity, equity and inclusion measures which have been targeted by the Trump administration.

In a follow-up post, Evans noted how “not all passengers need assistance,” and went on to list why the service helps mightily with those who do.

“This is a real-world infrastructure of equity in action: acknowledging that different people have different needs, and creating systems to support those differences fairly,” he concluded.

The post, made on Friday, has since gone viral on all social media platforms.

Prior to Evans making his Threads account private, his post was liked nearly 100,000 times by Monday.

While many agreed with his sentiment, others questioned how the situation was even linked to diversity, equity and inclusion.

“Great look, @Ford. Harassing an elderly man for watching the news,” one person on X wrote.

Another user added: “Hey @Ford, is this the way your company treats people? This executive should be terminated immediately for his belligerent behaviour toward elderly people he doesn’t even know. Shame on Ford for hiring such a person.”

Another added, “Imagine harassing an elderly man at the airport, in public, because he watched a news channel you don’t like.”

One person commented: “If everyone paid attention to their own screens and lives, world would be a far better place to live.”
