AGAR: Conservatives appear to be steaming toward victory

It must be difficult for those on the left to look at public polling.
The left’s dream choice, the handsome, modern, dreamy Justin Trudeau is so far behind Pierre Poilievre that the numbers — unchanged in almost a year — show the Liberals will be devastated in the next election.
The Conservatives are ahead 43% to 25%.
In Ontario, where it seems Conservative Premier Doug Ford careens from one issue to another, often lurching back after making a move, his party polls 11% ahead of the Liberals.
338Canada.com — a polling aggregator — predicts that, if the situation stays as it is federally, the Conservatives, needing 172 seats for a majority, would pick up 212.
Why?
First, the economy; the unaffordability of life.
Explosive growth in the size of the federal government contributes to inflation and moves too high a percentage of people from the private sector, which generates all the taxes, to the public sector which is paid by taxes.

The carbon tax makes everything more expensive.
But what do we get from the Liberals?
A huge carbon tax, with plans to increase it.
I think the Liberals are losing right now because you can’t tell average Canadians that the way to deal with the devastation of drug addiction and crime and social ills that come with it are solved by enabling addiction.
Ordinary people I think have had enough of so-called safe injection and supply and parks taken over by people who turn the them into an unsanitary, unsafe environment.
Trudeau enabled a huge number of people to come into the country illegally, winking to Quebec that he’d send them to Toronto. He sent refugees to live on the street in Toronto.
The border matters and immigration levels matter. Ordinary people know that.
The pro-Palestinian protests are rightly seen by many as anti-Semitic and hate-filled.
Yet lefty leaders — especially with the unions — are leaning in, swearing to fight the police and defend those who seem to be more interested in hating on Jews than anything else.
Jews are rightly afraid in Canada.
While I believe that elections are generally won and lost on the economy, smaller issues pile up to drive a voter from a party they may have supported.
You can’t tell mom and dad they have to accept a man with his male genitalia visible in the locker room and their nine-year-old daughter has to put up with it.
That used to be an arrestable offence.
Or tell them their daughter who worked to excel in a sport that it doesn’t matter when confronted by a guy who would rather be number one in the women’s category than number 412 in male events.
Ordinary people are smarter than that and peacock strutting by self-important liberals playing the Emperor Has No Clothes, doesn’t change basic biology.
It does drive people away from liberalism.
People are tired of a turnstile justice system that seems to favour the criminal over public safety.
Liberals will fight reform in that area.
Again, it is mostly about the economy, and if Conservative Leaded Pierre Poilievre and Ford are smart — and I think they are — they will stick to housing, groceries and perhaps crime.
They should let the other stuff bubble along, making it all the easier for a person who might have voted Liberal in the past to go Conservative this time.
