OPINION: The Kamala Con

Article content

Allow me to begin with my conclusion: the Democrat presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, is faker than a three dollar bill.

At a recent National Association of Black Journalists, former president Donald Trump pointed to a rather inconvenient truth about Ms. Harris. When asked by ABC News “journalist” (read: unofficial Harris spokeswoman) whether he “believed that Ms. Harris is only on the (Democrat) ticket because she is a black woman,” Trump responds:

“Well, I can say — no I think it’s maybe a little bit different. So, I’ve known her a long time indirectly, not directly, very much. She was always of Indian heritage, she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn black. And now she wants to be known as black. So I don’t know — is she Indian or is she black? But you know what? I respect either one. She obviously doesn’t because she was Indian all the way and then all of a sudden she made a turn and she became a black person.”

Of course, the Leftist media seized on this. What part of “Ms. Harris is biracial” does Mr. Trump not understand, they pontificated.

Unsurprisingly, these “journalists” missed the point entirely. What Mr. Trump is pointing to is Harris’ fakery and phoniness. This is a woman who is willing to say — and even more so, willingly to be — absolutely anything in her naked ambition for political power.

Indeed, the flood of headlines and videos from Harris’ 2016 senatorial bid where she repeatedly and exclusively emphasizes her Indian heritage to the exclusion of her blackness (and notably absent are headlines or videos of her claiming to be “biracial” as these “journalists” would like to have you believe) bears out these inconvenient facts.

When it was politically convenient to be Indian, she identified herself accordingly. Likewise, when it is now politically convenient to run as as a black woman, she acts accordingly. Indeed, she is so committed to this new role that she introduced a newfound Southern blaccent at her recent Atlanta, Ga., rally. “And you all helped us win in twenty-twenty and we gon do it again in twenty-twenty fo’!”

Further, this fits into a larger pattern of behaviour. When her abominable record as “Border Czar” was exposed, Axios as well the White House scrubbed any mention of this title insisting instead she never held the position. Similarly, her support for Medicare for all? Oops, she doesn’t believe in it any more. Fracking ban? What are you talking about? Defunding the police? Don’t be silly! Abolishing ICE and decriminalizing illegal border crossings? Don’t believe your lying ears and eyes!

These are tactics which would make the Soviets blush in shame.

Detractors will undoubtedly criticize me for “focusing on her race and gender” rather than “policy.” However, this obscures the fact that Harris’ entire campaign strategy thus far is to elect the “first female black president.” When the cornerstone of your campaign is identity politics, it is absolutely fair game.

As for policy — what policies? Those stunning reversals aforementioned do not even come directly from the candidate herself! These are denials — but in no way has the campaign provided any policy proposals. Indeed, she would have to sit for an adversarial interview or press conference in order to confirm them — something which she is avoiding and will continue to do until Election Day. Instead, these flip flops are sourced from anonymous off-the-record campaign staffers. Not exactly confidence-inducing.

At first, I felt great anger and insult at the fact that Harris and her Democrat Party comrades thought so lowly of the American voter. John Fetterman isn’t impaired — quit bullying a man who had suffered a stroke! Joe Biden isn’t in cognitive decline — he merely suffers from a stutter. Don’t you know that behind closed doors he recites Homer’s Iliad in the original Greek while solving multivariate Calculus formulae?

And then, upon further reflection, I came to the truth. The truth of the matter, dear reader, isn’t only that they think we’re stupid. No there is something far uglier and more insidious — it’s because it works. Kamala is the Con — but we are the marks.
