MORE SUPPORT
Columnists Ralph Lean and Claudia Redondo ask, “Where are the men?” when it comes to taking a stand against intimate partner violence (July 7). I must ask, ‘Where are the women when it comes to electing a government that believes in protecting people from violent crime and criminals?’ Since 2015, women have voted overwhelmingly for the Liberal Party of Canada. Women supported a Trudeau government that enacted bills C-75 and C-5, which gave priority to releasing repeat violent offenders and revoked mandatory jail time for many serious crimes. Carney has refused to rescind these soft-on-crime measures. I believe sexual assaults and crimes against children should be treated with the utmost severity. These types of crimes are akin to murder — they are often life changing and leave irreparable damage. Most men voted in favour of the Conservative Party and its strong anti-crime stance. We need women of all ages and demographics to join men in standing up against the Liberal government’s decision to put concessions to predators and violent offenders above the protection of law-abiding citizens.

THE GOOD BUT MOSTLY THE BAD
Liberals with their zero emissions ideals are a good idea for now. That’s the good. Now here is the bad. When those EVs get into an accident, they are unrepairable. They stay in junkyards deteriorating away, releasing unknown toxins from the batteries into the air and ground. Now what happens in 10 years or so when all we have are EV vehicles? What happens when all those batteries become useless and unusable? What will happen to the ground and air? Those batteries (and the rest of that EV) are useless. Is that when we go back to internal combustion engines?
