HOLDING A MATCH
I suspect most of these fires began as civilized weenie roasts that fools or drunks didn’t keep from going wild. Scott Moe admitted their fires are manmade. Recent huge fines put in place by Nova Scotia to stop people from going into their forests is also an admission that it is people starting these disastrous blazes. Fire and fools are a deadly combination when coupled with dry conditions. We should be looking at who is holding the match, not pointing a finger at Mother Nature!

(We shouldn’t be surprised anymore at human stupidity when it comes to these fires. It’s little wonder why some provinces have taken extreme measures banning people from the woods)

BACK TO WORK
I have been listening to the whining and complaining of people who work for the provincial government and the federal government about having to go back to work five days a week. These people get better pay, benefits and pensions than most of the population who work in the private sector. Government workers were sitting at home trying to tell us you could do the same at home as you could in the office. Maybe in some jobs. Nurses went to work and they were at greater risk than most. So, please, stop your whining and complaining, and get dressed on Monday morning like most of us, get in your car or TTC and get your lazy butt to work. The holiday is over.

CAN’T TRUST THEM
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, meets with Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, in Alaska. Two untrustworthy powerful leaders are deciding the fate of millions of innocent Ukrainians suffering from three years of war created by Russia invaders. These two leaders are dividing up Ukrainian territory! Are they dividing up Canadian territory as well? How about other countries?

(President Trump has made it very clear he wants the war to end and that this is just the first meeting. Ukraine President Zelenskyy needs to be at the table following this)

ACTION PLAN
Re: Gimme five!, (Brian Lilley, Aug. 14): These actions would strengthen our economy. Add to the list: 1. Reduce all impediments to interprovincial free trade. 2. In addition to eliminating sector specific taxes and capital gains on investments, we should eliminate corporate taxes, eliminate federal regulations regarding permits on such matters as ‘climate change’ and end duplicate federal-provincial laws in matters such as labour. 3. Change immigration rules to favour required skills or applicants of economic advantage.
