Re “Ford walks it back” (Brian Lilley, July 29): I am a Doug Ford supporter but has he not been watching developments all over Ireland, Britain and Europe where thousands of people are protesting, demanding that these so-called illegals and refugees be deported from their countries. These illegals are arriving every week. They are being housed in hotels, etc. at enormous cost to taxpayers and supplied with cash, phones, etc. The people have had enough. The more benefits you give them, the more will come. If Ford were to give them work permits, the word will spread and we will be overrun, which is what has happened in Europe. Then we will have the street protests going on. Stop this madness.
(Fortunately someone around Ford explained what a terrible idea this was and he backed down)

NO STATEHOOD RECOGNITION
The Canada recognizing statehood for a faux ‘Palestine’ is not my Canada. Mark Carney jumping on the bandwagon of an ill-conceived and incoherent plan is not my PM. First and foremost ‘Palestine’ is not actually a state with defined boundaries, let alone democratic or free. It was a media concoction made-up by Yasser Arafat for political purposes to pressure Western countries. Secondly, a” two-state solution” will never work. It’s an impossibility so long as the genocidal “Neighbours” want all Jews dead and the state of Israel annihilated. Thirdly, the land was never theirs in the first place, either historically, or Biblically. Statehood for a Palestinian terror state would be a HUGE and TERRIBLE mistake. Israel has a right to exist — as do we all — and rewarding Hamas for its vile and maniacal dreams is simply WRONG. Mark Carney needs to boldly lead, and not to thoughtlessly follow.
Neil Staff Whitby
(As it stands now, Carney isn’t leading. Canada has lost its moral compass under the Liberals and this is just yet another example)
