HOUSING CRISIS
The haves have too much. The have-nots have too little. Honest working people cannot afford housing. More and more are ending up on the street. Now, thanks to leadership like that of Doug Ford, they cannot even live on the street. Too many people are suffering because prices have been allowed to far outstrip wages. Corporate greed has usurped compassion. People are being forced onto the street. And now they are being forced off the streets as well by the very people who put them there. This is not what Canada is about, nor should it be.

TIME FOR CHANGE
The globalism trumped by our feckless leader has led to a diaspora that threatens our culture and way of life. We have an ill-informed leader with an ideological bent that isn’t shared by the masses. Worse still, in our current political system, we seem to be hamstrung in our ability to rid the country of this menace. It’s above my pay grade to decide what structural reforms are needed, but let’s hope the next government will recommend a way to prevent this political paralysis from happening again.

FLAG FLAP
Re “Residents of Alberta town vote in favour of bylaw banning rainbow flags, crosswalks” (The Canadian Press, Dec. 3): It seems to me acceptable to limit flags on municipal property to the Canadian flag, the provincial flag and the local municipal flag, if there is one. There may also be flags appropriate to schools, such as Elmer the Safety Elephant. In that case, all secondary flags including those celebrating the national days of minority groups and any causes, no matter how worthwhile, would be banned. However, prohibiting just one type of non-governmental flag would be highly discriminatory.
