STRIKE A DATE CHANGE
I believe the postal strike will do permanent damage to the postal service as we have known it. Besides wages, they want delivery on the weekends by permanent employees. Does this necessitate time and a half? I no longer refer to our super box, in our neighbourhood, as the mailbox. It’s the ‘flyer box.’ For years now, I have thought we should get delivery every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday one week and Tuesday and Thursday the next week. No weekends! If this were a private business, they would figure out how to cut costs and how to increase revenue, not to mention provide a service above all others.

(This strike does bode well for Canada Post’s future which was already grim. If changes aren’t made to the business model to adapt, then it only accelerates its demise)

POSITION PLAY
I’m not sure why Toronto Maple Leaf coach Craig Berube decided to play defenceman Morgan Rielly as a forward against the Washington Capitals other than he’s not much of a defenceman. I saw him getting up from the ice behind their net and getting knocked down when he was in front of their net. When next he is asked to play as a defenceman he should try to be as physical to the opposition as he received as a forward. Rielly was also spotted floating the blue line waiting for a pass when Washington scored their second goal. Maybe he should watch videos of real defencemen keeping the front of their net cleared.

FORD WILL GET IT DONE
I’m behind Premier Doug Ford in his effort to clean up our city. Illegal campsites, drug distribution centres, wherever they please. Are they encouraging individuals who might have that inclination to become drug users? Then say, ‘well if you do become addicted, we will keep you supplied.’ Unfortunately, we have the civil liberties groups who I call ‘The Bleeding Hearts Brigades,’ shouting to give them what they want. Many rants of theirs are often a threat to our society.
