WHAT A SHOW

Just saw Cabaret staged at the Alumnae Theatre on Berkeley. Absolutely the best musical I have seen in years. The talent on stage is amazing. Singing voices are haunting. Dancing is exceptional. Direction is spot on. The lead female performance is a joy. The MC performance is spectacular. Bravo to the director/producers. Local theatre be damned. This rivals Broadway.

TRUMP’S REQUESTS

Re “Trump might be the smart one” and “Hit the U.S. with tariffs” (Letters to the Editor, Nov. 29): Besides Trump’s misconceptions about tariffs, including his threat to Canada and Mexico regarding those countries’ borders, are seemingly shared by the letter writers, as well as the Sun Letters editors. There is no legal means for Canada to control who crosses from Canada to the United States. Any person, citizen or not, can simply decide to leave Canada at any time (unless under a court prohibition). One simply can walk onto the Rainbow Bridge, for example, and not encounter any official until he comes upon U.S. border personnel. Canada already vets those entering Canada, and those with criminal records or failing to meet normal visitor standards are refused entry. Although Trump’s tweet seems to ask Canada and Mexico to protect against out-migration, an outlandish request, it would not be unusual for him to think everybody is as dumb as he is.

(You seem to be missing the point completely. Since you seem to suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome, we will keep it simple: Secure our border, which Trudeau has already agreed is critical. And yes, we have many legal means to control who crosses. Canada has not done a good enough job with those who have claimed asylum and then gone to the U.S. This is just one example)

IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE?

I worked hard for 52 years and paid every tax imaginable, including EHT (Employer Health Tax). Now, for 10 years, I have not had a family doctor, and I am waiting three months for an ultrasound. At my age, the health-care system is most important to me. Unfortunately, I am scared to get sick. We must get rid of the Liberals as soon as possible!
