While I am not condoning the cross-check to the head of Ridly Greig by Morgan Rielly, I completely understand his frustration in the heat of the moment. Instead of the cross-check, Rielly, or someone else on the team, should have dropped the gloves to teach the kid a lesson. I have confidence a savvy veteran such as Claude Giroux, who I have always admired as a player and plays the game the right way, will pull the kid aside and teach him that showmanship and disrespect do not belong in our beloved game of hockey.
As I listened to the auditor general read her report about the Trudeau Liberal government handing over millions of dollars for no work done, supposedly to build the ArriveCAN app, I had a sense of deja vu like this was a movie I had already seen before. Then it hit me, I have seen this Liberal scandal before! So let’s just call it what it really is — now coming to a Canadian city near you, Sponsorship Scandal 2!

Chris Robertson Stony Plain, Alta.
(What is it with Liberals handing out our money with no accountability, no oversight and no sense)
WAITING FOR ACTION A recent study by navigation company TomTom ranked Toronto as the most congested in America and third in the world. Any comments from our city or province? Answer: No. Not even on the city council’s items to discuss. How can the traffic woes be ignored? Will it get magically better? It will only get worse as we add dedicated bus lanes, take street space for bike lanes, and increase population density without infrastructure changes to support it. Working people who drive cars are being ignored.

TOO DEPENDENT
I think that every newspaper from Newfoundland to B.C. should print Yvonne Robertson’s column “What happened to the Canadian dream?” (Feb. 10). Never have I read anything so true as I am a product of living it and succeeding. Most of us are immigrants originally and certainly were able to succeed by hard work. Now people expect to succeed by getting everything given to them. Certainly not the Canada I came to know.
S. Marsh Toronto
(When the government of the day doesn’t care about taxpayers’ money, it is easy to keep handing out billions. Then the public relies on that and the same government gets support in the next election. Time to break the cycle)
