It was only a matter of time until the late Canadian actor John Candy in the movie Stripes would become a role model for everyone in the Canadian military. With the recent report from Canadian Forces Health Services that 78% of all our fighting men and women are obese/overweight (higher than the Canadian population obesity/overweight level of 68%), we will literally crush our enemies by falling on them! Maybe we should change our national anthem O Canada from “We stand on guard for thee” to “We jog on guard for thee?”
(We need strong leadership and direction for our military to turn this around. Unfortunately, those in charge now are more worried about social reform than fighting form)

NATIONAL UNITY
Re “Let’s go Doug!” (Letters to the Editor, Jan. 30): I sincerely do expect Douglas Robert Ford Jr. to become the Progressive Conservative he always was supposed to be. Stand up to these fake ideologues of the Liberal Party and the NDP. Build an alliance with kindred spirits, like Premier Danielle Smith of Alberta and Premier Scott Moe of Saskatchewan. Whatever you do, Doug Ford, don’t hide behind the guise of this illusory national unity.

TRUMP IS A STRONG LEADER
Since Trump’s inauguration, the U.S.A. and the rest of the world have witnessed what a true leader looks like, through his words and more importantly his actions. Trump, at a record pace, has already started to not just rebuild America, but to regain her prominence as the world leader. It is very simple, when the occupant of the White House is competent, intelligent and feared by his enemies, the world is a safer place. Biden and Trudeau, take notice!

(He has acted swiftly to make substantial changes. But he didn’t have to pick a trade war with us on his road to reform the U.S. economy)
