ALL STARS

I hope that Mark Shapiro and Ross Atkins were watching the MLB All-Star Game home-run derby on Monday night. I am sure they remember letting Teoscar Hernandez go from the Blue Jays.

(No doubt they were watching, but probably didn’t reflect on their choices for the team)

WE MAY NEVER KNOW

For many of those watching the assassination attempt on former president Trump, their conclusion of why it unfolded as it did raised two possibilities: It was due to a massive failure on the part of those responsible for Trump’s security, or malfeasance. We may never know, as is the case with the Kennedy assassination.

(So far there has been little transparency and a lot of finger pointing between agencies)

JUST ONE FINGER

I’m tired of the “hands-free” debate. How about some facts to argue with! First, the need for two hands on the wheel long passed with the introduction of power steering, and besides, hands do not move together 100%, which is enough to cause skidding on ice-covered roads. Second, if properly aligned, cars, pickups and, yes, large commercial trucks, will run nice and straight with “look mom, no hands” on the steering wheel. I spent 40 years of my life driving all over Canada/US. Trust me, they can be driven with one finger. It is not the holding of the damn phone that is the problem, it’s the lack of focus. Or how about “seat belts save lives.” I’m sorry, it’s a piece of cloth (likely a good suggestion) with no decision-making ability. Only God Almighty can decide life and death. Or maybe “speed kills!” If that were true, all pilots would be dead, especially those that break the sound barrier. All speed does is determine the size of the splat! OK, I’m done with my rant, but a bit of truth always cheers me up, so thanks for listening.

(Put the phone down, pay attention and drive safe. Common sense)
