TORY TROUBLES
Re “‘Unfinished’ biz” (Brian Lilley, July 24): Although I’m certain that the Sun will support John Tory for a third term as mayor, as will all the Toronto papers including the Star and the Globe since his policies have been more left than centre, please continue presenting the opposite side as you are the only voice in the wilderness that does. Credit to the Sun for letting you do it. As for unfinished business, he must be referring to the renaming of Dundas Street and the other streets on his list at a cost of millions to the city taxpayers — the residents and businesses on those streets. The issues of subways, housing, child care, and homelessness existed long before he was mayor and will continue to exist long after his third term is finished.

HELLS’ LESSON
Much has been said and written about the Hells Angels visit to the Greater Toronto Area and guess what: Nothing bad happened! That is because they are a smart gang! They do their vile business in a quiet, seemingly professional fashion. Toronto street gangs, however, are beyond dumb. They have managed to kill a child at a birthday party, shot up two kids in a playground, and try to shoot the arses off one another a few times per week — every single week. Maybe the Angels could mentor Toronto’s lawless cowboys to kill and maim one another in a way that leaves law-abiding citizens out of their inane games of revenge. I hope Toronto council reaches out to Hells Angels for help with ‘the gun problem,’ but something tells me the gangs are too obtuse to learn.

INFERTILE SOIL
Re “Trudeau pushes ahead on fertilizer reduction as provinces and farmers cry foul” (Brian Lilley, July 22): Not satisfied that his war on fossil fuels has harmed the economy enough, driven up inflation to a 40-year high, and has families juggling their finances to be able to feed themselves, put gas in their vehicle to get to work and heat their homes, green-obsessed and out-of-touch Trudeau is now declaring a new war on farmers. Many farmers are already struggling to survive because of fuel and other escalating costs that Trudeau’s ideologically driven policies are creating. The war in Ukraine means fertilizer costs have skyrocketed, creating more financial hardships for farmers. Less fertilizer use means leaner crops, resulting in scarcer and much higher farm produce. Never has Canada had a leader much more interested in appeasing the elitist class than helping the average Canadian family survive. While Trudeau pushes ahead going green no matter the costs and harm caused, China and India continue building more coal-fired plants! This means the suffering Trudeau is causing is basically futile in reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions. Wake up, Canadians, as we can no longer afford Trudeau!
