OVERLY TINTED

After reading “Tips sought after shooting at Markham home” (Jane Stevenson, July 4), I couldn’t help but think that sometimes, because of lack of enforcement, the police are their own worst enemy. The photo of the vehicle York Regional Police are looking through windows that are so darkly tinted, including the front window, that there is zero visibility into the vehicle. Enforcement of over-tinting would have led to a photo of the car and driver. It seems to me that one of 10 vehicles are illegally tinted.

(We are sure the cops investigating have ways of dealing with that)

LIBERAL LEADER

Did Bonnie Crombie jump into the Ontario Liberal leadership too quickly? She should have waited and gone for the big prize — the federal Liberal leadership.

NOT A LEADER TO BE FOUND

The disturbing political news of the past week involving Trudeau’s denial of his fate, Trump’s bombastic unsuitability for the presidency, and Biden’s mental deterioration doesn’t indicate that democracy is failing. Big party democracy is failing. The enablers and power hungry backroomers, who keep the inept in power, are the ones that must go — now. It is time to examine how we conduct our democracy and set new rules and standards. The power hungry backroom manipulators must go!

LESSONS LEARNED

One can look back on the Justin Trudeau years as a lesson in hope and betrayal of Canadian citizens and voters. In saying so, I once wrote something saying that Canada was back after his first election. I publicly retract my letter and feel ashamed I jumped to conclusions like so many other Canadians. Yes, we all wanted a Mr. Dressup White  Knight — instead Canada was duped into a carbon tax by zealots who brought disgust and laughter to the world and took money for nothing. The emperor has no clothes and no votes now.

(There will still be many Canadians who vote for Trudeau’s Liberals, no matter how much their policies have failed Canada. Just look at the results from the recent Toronto-St. Paul’s byelection)
