FIGHT FOR OURSELVES

Re “Man accused of opening fire on thieves stealing his Lamborghini in Vaughan” (Jack Boland, June 12): There was a time in our history that everyone had a weapon of some kind to hunt and for protection. As time passed, we allowed the government to take our arms on the promise that they would enforce laws and protect us. That is no longer the case. With the radicalization of our courts and the severe underfunding of our police, citizens will have no choice but to rearm themselves to protect their families and their hard-won possessions. Vigilante justice is the consequence of bad government.

(So many failed government policies and weak courts, with little willingness to enforce laws with punishment as a deterrent, have left a vulnerable and frustrated public)

ELECT JUDGES

Is it time to take a serious and dispassionate consideration of electing judges? It seems more than a little naive to think that when judges are appointed by political bodies that politics doesn’t leak in to the appointments. Those that support the current system would have us believe that appointments are apolitical and that those dispensing “justice” are completely impartial to the policies and views of the party that appointed them. The question is, where is the accountability when we more and more learn of bizarre rulings offered up by judges (too often acting like social workers) putting dangerous criminals back on the streets and in our communities.

(There is zero accountability for judges and no political will to change that)

NO DOME

We should tell Donald Trump that he can keep his Golden Dome. Millions of Americans live north of a lot of Canadians so it will work for them. Canada is not a target, and if a force invaded us anyway, the U.S. would step in to prevent it to protect themselves. They wouldn’t want Chinese or Russian missiles set up in Windsor under their dome. So tell him to stick it.

(We cannot be so naive to think Canada is not a target)
