Re “Fuelling our debt” (Franco Terrazzano, June 17): That was a well written piece, especially the facts regarding the unmeasurable effect of Canadian climate policy on global climate. University students taking introductory economics learn about how demand for goods and services can be relatively elastic or inelastic. When demand doesn’t change much in response to changes in price, you have inelasticity and gasoline, diesel, etc. falls neatly into that definition. The government needs revenue to pay for their epic spending spree and they wouldn’t want to tax elastic things like fast food. Most people can stop eating fast food, but most people cannot stop driving or heating their homes.

YOIR VOTE COUNTS IF YOU SHOW UP
If you truly love and care for Toronto, show up at the polls. Don’t elect Olivia Chow, it’ll be bad for all of us. If you complain after the election results, you asked for it — you had a choice, you did not exercise it. Live with the consequences of your inactions.

SOCIALIST COUP DE GRACE
It’s an undeniable fact that for five to six decades Toronto has been notorious for producing losers in the professional sport area. Now, according to recent polls, they intend to expand this outcome to the political arena. The Liberals have worked diligently for decades to move this country to a socialist system. Olivia Chow would provide the ‘coup de grace’ for its largest city. Heaven help them all.
