DEFENDING THE HOMELAND
Re “Armed home invader met his match when Oakville residents fought back” (Joe Warmington, June 20): Warmington writes that “Premier Ford floated the idea of Ontario having a protecting one’s ‘castle law’ like they have in Florida — which would mean that if you break into someone’s house that they can defend it to the death.” Of course, I would add ‘legally defend’ to the intruder’s death. But, with a sincere apology to PETA, I have a better idea which would, as the idiom goes, “kill two birds with one stone.” Premier Doug Ford should support the idea of Canada becoming the 51st state. Canadians could then avail themselves of that great American innovation: The Second Amendment.

FAME FOR CHERRY
The ongoing conversation regarding Don Cherry’s Hockey Hall of Fame induction is so frustrating. What has to happen to get this done? Is it finding the proper placement? How about creating a new category just for him? There isn’t anyone more qualified for that to happen. His knowledge of the game, his passion, his integrity are outmatched. Grapes’ love of his country is evident as is his supporting our members of the Armed Services. What is it going to take? C ‘mon, HHOF, wake up! We witnessed how important his presence is this week when we thought he was leaving the airwaves for good. Get to it! Otherwise my next request will be filled with profanity.

PARTY MANDATE
Re EV mandate: Jay Goldberg, Lorrie Goldstein, Brian Lilley, Rick Bell, and federal auditor general Karen Hogan should form a new political party and save Canada. This group think they are so much smarter than everyone else and have all the answers. God help us.

(It’s shocking in the face of the evidence, the Liberals are plowing ahead with it. This is a decision based purely on ideology – not logic)
