TURN THE SHIP AROUND
If you’re a Conservative voter, there is a silver lining in a Mark Carney victory. The mess the Liberals created in our country these past 10 years is now on their shoulders to repair. If Pierre Poilievre won, he would be saddled with the fix, which won’t be pleasant. Four years is not enough to turn this ship around, especially if you plan to spend more than your predecessor. Carney may seem prime ministerial in demeanour but the proof is in the pudding. I have a feeling the Liberals will fall short in their ability to change this ship’s course. There is always hope though.

(The only problem is Carney likely isn’t going to fix any of these issues and will make them worse. When there is eventually a new government it will be almost 14 years of mess to clean up created by the Liberals)
SAME BUT DIFFERENT
Retreads! Carney’s ‘new’ government includes many politicians that plunged Canada into a neo-Venezuelan state, deep resources but impoverished people. A few, like Tim Hodgson in Energy and Natural Resources and Adam van Koeverden in Sports, have portfolio experience. A significant signal of Cabinet orientation is the retention of Steven Guilbeault, at Identity and Culture. Along with Liberal advisor Gerald Butts, Guilbeault is part of the triumvirate of carbon zero zealots who caused the lost Liberal decade. Carney summed it up on CTV: “Although they are in different roles, they will be around the table.”

FORD RIGHT ON BIKE LANES
I believe Premier Doug Ford is correct in his decision to remove the bike lanes on Avenue Rd. and Bloor St. There is simply not sufficient traffic to warrant their existence. It is rare to see more than two or three bikes using these lanes. I have driven along both of these roads and Eglinton Ave. quite often and not seen more than one or two bikes in the lanes provided. They should never have been installed in the first place. Toronto is a city of cars and trucks not bikes.
