How ridiculous talking about shutting down Canada Post. First of all, everyone does not have computers, although I can send this letter on the laptop I have, it is not used for accounts of any kind or bill payments; in fact, nothing to do with other than emails, information and fun (games). But I do love my mail. Greeting cards, paper bills (so I know what I am paying), and I donate to several institutions, by cheque and mailed. I also send parcels to my brother in long-time care. I am not the only one in this situation — how about thinking beyond electronics, there are still some humans alive who can walk down the street talking to the air until you notice their ear filled with electronics. So, let’s fight to keep “the pony express” alive. I asked a worker at my local post office if they want to strike, and he said, “Oh no.” And imagine closing the rural post offices, “Nuts”

RETURN ON INVESTMENT
There needs to be a solution for Canada Post labour issues. They need to decide whether they’re going to be a national letter-mail carrier or an entity competing with shipping carriers. Perhaps it’s time to split the two and keep one for whatever reason, and the other for some real business. The corporation owns very valuable assets and has invested heavily in acquiring them and building infrastructure. It would be unfortunate if there is no return on all that investment.

I always enjoy the opinion pieces from Kevin Vuong. His May 15 column “Wokeness pulls into station” about the name change of Dundas subway stop was spot on. The City of Toronto needs educated, common sense and thoughtful individuals such as Vuong. I say Kevin Vuong for mayor!
