HIRE JOE BOWEN
Why on earth doesn’t CBC and/or Sportsnet get Joe Bowen back broadcasting Leafs games. His exuberance is infectious. Chris Cuthbert and Craig Simpson should be calling bingo games at some retirement home for all the excitement they exude. Go Leafs.

FORD’S HOT AIR
Re “Ford: Judges ‘a joke'” (The Canadian Press, May 1): Pretty rich to hear Doug Ford carry on about bail and crime. Has been a problem that is just getting worse the past decade and there was an option to get someone in there that actually had a plan to deal with it but he did his part in stopping that. Think the problem is he needs to be seen as taking credit for it (kind of reminds a person of that guy in the States). Bluster, hot air and big egos, both of them.

(It wasn’t lost on us he sounded a lot like the president — but he wasn’t necessarily wrong)
TRUMPY DOUG
I’m no lawyer and I don’t believe Ford is either. It’s not up to the premier to “grade” judges. I would think a lot of research and thought go into judges’ decisions. This all sounds very Trumpy to me and I do not like it.

(Isn’t it at least worth a discussion about electing judges?)
PREMIER NEEDS TO RESPECT THE LAW
Premier Doug Ford needs to realize that he does not have the right to make illegal decisions arbitrarily. Judges enforce the law, and if our elected officials try to flaunt the law they need to be held in check, as would any ordinary citizen. In situations such as the Greenbelt and the Ontario Place debacle, we are lucky to have a legal system that protects our rights. If politicians do not respect the law of the land, why should anyone else?

(We sense Ford’s rant against judges didn’t have the desired impact he was expecting)
