Did the Republican Party win the 2024 election or did the Democratic Party lose it on their own. Kamala Harris was not selected the way all previous Democratic presidential candidates were chosen. Card-carrying Democrats were denied the right to vote for their candidate. Each member previously felt a bond with all other members. No matter who was selected, each felt that they played a role for who could be the next president. But this time, the party executive and those with a strong influence decided to have a crowning of Queen Kamala. How to change this: Change the rules of the party. The selected candidate can only be chosen by card-carrying members — by vote only. The members need to take immediate action.

(There are so many reasons why the Democrats lost the election. But perhaps the primary reason was the economy. Most Americans were struggling financially under the Biden-Harris administration and voters punished them for it)
TRUDEAU STILL UNPOPULAR
Warren Kinsella knows more about election campaigns than I do (“Time to smile, Liberals,” Nov. 7). Having said that, I disagree with his belief that Trump will be good for Trudeau. In the federal election of 2019, Trump was in power. Trudeau, who was more popular then than now, lost the popular vote to Andrew Scheer. Trudeau is less popular today and the Conservatives have a stronger leader. Would Trudeau run the risk of portraying the Trump administration in a negative light just to make up a story about Poilievre? Maybe, he does focus on partisan politics.

MAKE CANADA GREAT AGAIN
In response to the U.S. election, let’s make Make Canada Great Again the new rallying cry that our out-of-touch/elitist prime minister will not be able to ignore. Your time is up, Trudeau, and that includes your accomplice, Jagmeet Singh. Now that the U.S. has gotten its conscience back, it’s our turn to show that Canadians think affordability (on food and housing), along with good jobs and educating our children, are still top priorities — not division, arrogance or religious hatred. Enough.
