SPEED KILLS
The article “Toronto’s photo radar traps capture repeat offenders” (Antonella Artuso, Sept. 6) gives the impression that drivers are repeatedly speeding through areas despite having been issued multiple tickets. But this is not what is happening. The city, perhaps deliberately, takes four weeks to issue a notice from a speed camera. If public safety were an issue, wouldn’t the city issue notices quickly so drivers can adjust their behaviour?

ARE YOU WASTED?
Re “Ontario’s public education system heading down dangerous path” (Karen Littlewood, Sept. 3): There are two issues to consider when seeking to repair the damage to our schools during the coronavirus pandemic. First, online education doesn’t work.
Human beings didn’t evolve to learn from two-dimensional screens but rather in person. Second, you get what you pay for. You want the best teachers, you must pay for them. Instead of wasting money in Ukraine, we should divert taxpayers’ money toward our children’s future.

ASS BACKWARDS
Re “Why the soft touch for accused mass killer Myles Sanderson?” (Brad Hunter, Sept. 7): Canada has become a soft touch on justice period. Time and time again offenders get the slap on the wrist justice that we have become used to seeing. A revolving justice system where criminals laugh at the justice system both in bail and sentence procedures. Cries from law abiding citizens fall on the deaf ears of the government. How many more Sanderson types are out there right now? We reap what we sow. It is true that sometimes the law is an ass.

LIQUIDITY ISSUES
The German chancellor came to Canada to plead for help for his citizens during the upcoming bitter winter. All he wanted was liquified natural gas (LNG) to be sent from Canada to Germany so that the population could stay warm enough to survive. What he got was an offer to supply hydrogen in approximately three years, and the reason for no LNG supply is that Trudeau cannot see a business reason for it. Even if that were true, surely helping an ally to survive should have taken precedence over his much-vaunted green agenda. I find it almost impossible to believe that Trudeau cannot see a business case for supplying LNG to whomever needs it, other than he has never wanted for anything, least of all heat in the winter to keep his family alive.

FUND TIMES
Pierre Poilievre has expressed his feelings on media bias and I agree with him. CBC is funded with tax dollars, private media is funded by corporate/union funds though advertising and ads for governments at all levels. No employee of a Crown/private or union should fear a loss of employment if your views are not deemed politically correct. I don’t want a change to a Conservative bias — I believe we should defund media from bias.
