Inspired by the perfect ski days, the new whisky is about sharing the blue hour, those magical moments after a full day of skiing when a great day on the slopes turns into an unforgettable evening of socializing with friends and family over a fine drink.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ice Chalet is for sale now in liquor stores across Canada.

We set out to blend a whisky that was inspired by the alpine landscape and captured the magic of special après ski moments,” says Emma Walker, Johnnie Walker’s master blender. (Despite her last name, she is not related to the original Walker family who started the distillery.)

We uncovered rare expressions that were distilled in the depths of some of Scotland’s coldest winters and blended these with whiskies from some of our most northern and highest altitude distilleries, including Dalwhinnie, Clynelish and Brora, to create a velvety smooth Scotch with Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s signature depth of flavour at its heart.”

Whisky from Roseisle Distillery, which opened in Speyside in 2010, is also part of the blend.

And the Brora comes from the distillery’s old stock. Located in the Highlands of Scotland, this single malt distillery reopened in 2021 after being closed since 1983.

Only one in 10,000 casks meets the requirements for this one-of-akind blend, and many of the distilleries behind the casks no longer exist, meaning the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ice Chalet will never be replicated.

With well-balanced notes of spiced apple, cinnamon and clove plus hints of orange and hazelnuts, the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ice Chalet is rich and complex, with a long finish and aromas of honey, heather and peaty woodsmoke on cold nights. The frosted glass bottle features detailed engravings that pay a nod to snowy mountaintops in the world’s best ski regions. Pair with dark chocolate, or perhaps duck breast or salmon. And, perhaps most importantly, you can always just enjoy it by itself.

The world’s most popular Scotch whisky brand according to Drinks International’s Brands Report 2024, Johnnie Walker was started in 1820 by a Scottish grocer named John Walker whose son and grandson continued the expansion of the brand. These days, Johnnie Walker whiskies are available in more than 180 countries — almost every country in the world — and features a lengthy range of award-winning whiskies. The list includes Johnnie Walker Red Label, Black Label, High Rye Blended Scotch Whisky, Double Black, Green Label, Gold Label Reserve, Aged 18 Years and Blue Label.

And, of course, now, the new Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ice Chalet. It is the second in the Johnnie Walker Cobalt series, a limited-edition collection that began in 2023 with the release of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Elusive Umami, created in partnership with Japanese chef Kei Kobayashi.
