Canada won 3-2 in overtime thanks to Connor McDavid’s winner.

Kreviazuk’s publicist Adam Gonshor confirmed to Postmedia that Kreviazuk changed the lyric from ‘in all of us command’ to ‘that only us command’ because of President Donald Trump’s continuous calls for Canada to become the 51st state.

That was initially lost to everybody on social media but Kreviazuk tried to explain her position on Instagram later in the night.

She also admitted that she could have sounded better because her performance was widely panned.

“I am sorry if my performance of our national anthem rubbed you the wrong way,” Kreviazuk wrote. “If I was a little off-pitch or if it wasn’t perfect in its tone. I am sorry if I messed up the French line I inserted to bring some balance to our nation’s history without losing those words “glorious and free” in English.”

Kreviazuk said if there are people in Canada who feel the country would be better off being taken over by the United States she doesn’t have any sympathy for them. She said had to do something and couldn’t sit idly by.

“No, we should express our outrage in the face of any abuses of power. I was raised in part by music that was inspired by brave voices committed to peaceful conflict resolution.
