Blue Jays' late rally earns win over Tampa Bay Rays

A four-run outburst in the eighth inning helped the Blue Jays salvage a game that appeared headed the other way.
A RBI-single by Justin Turner that somehow found its way past the glove of third baseman Jose Caballero got the scoring started, as the Blue Jays would score three more run in the frame, leading to a 6-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Dalton Varsho brought home another run with a single to make it 4-2, before a wild pitch scored the Jays third run and then a fourth scored when Taylor Walls failed to squeeze a high pop fly off the bad of Alejandro Kirk in shallow right field for a second unearned run of the inning.
It was the kind of baseball luck that the Jays could have used on a number of evenings this season but have not received.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. continued his hot run of late with an RBI-single in the first to score Spencer Horwitz and a then homered in the third for his 18th bomb of the year. He finished the night 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and those two runs driven in.
Jays starter Yariel Rodriguez was solid again, allowing just two hits and two earned runs over 5 2/3 innings. He had a perfect game going through four innings before a Randy Arozarena double opened the fifth inning.
The Jays will go for the series win this afternoon at the Dome with Chris Bassitt (8-8, 3.71) taking on Taj Bradley (5-4, 2.63) in a 3 p.m. start.
