This comes on the heels of Gurriel Jr. and Gabriel Moreno being traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks for outfielder Daulton Varsho. It was the second noteworthy trade the Blue Jays made during the off-season — the team also sent Teoscar Hernandez packing to the Seattle Mariners in November in return for pitchers Adam Macko and Erik Swanson.
In his Boxing Day post, Gurriel Jr. wrote: “What can I tell you Blue Jays fans, thank you for all your support during all this time, you who saw me take my first steps as a pro player and saw me grow, thank you all, you will always be in my heart, thank you to my teammates for everything, best of luck!!”
