After one of the worst showings in the history of its men’s basketball program — which culminated in an overtime loss against Canada in the bronze-medal match on Sunday — LeBron James reportedly has decided to return to international action for the first time in over a decade.
LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant on board for Paris Olympics after awful USA World Cup: ReportBack to video

The Athletic reported Monday that James, the NBA’s all-time scoring leader and a three-time gold-medal winner, “is ready to commit” for Paris 2024.
The report also said James has already called fellow all-time greats Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant about joining him. James has also reportedly made calls to all-NBA mainstays Jayson Tatum and Anthony Davis, and to Draymond Green, while other top players like Devin Booker, Damian Lillard, Kyrie Irving and De’Aaron Fox have also “expressed interest.”

James has not played for the “Dream Team” since the 2012 Olympics in London. He will be five months away from his 40th birthday when the Paris Games arrive and has finally started running into some injury issues in recent years after an incredible run of good health during his historic career.
Apparently, though, James is intent on making another statement before retirement.
A U.S. team that didn’t return a single player from the previous Olympics fell three times at this World Cup, to Lithuania, eventual champion Germany and Canada, and was about as poor defensively as any team the USA has previously brought to a World Cup.
Though the United States has often not lived up to expectations at the World Cup, with many of its stars deciding not to commit to the event, it has remained a powerhouse at the Olympics, winning the past four men’s tournaments.
Curry has not played at an Olympics, while Durant has been to three and was the MVP in Tokyo.
