Vince Carter won’t just be around this season for his upcoming jersey retirement ceremony.
The first Toronto Raptors superstar will be joining Sportsnet as a broadcaster for select games, starting with Wednesday’s season opener at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Sportsnet announced the news on Tuesday morning.
“My NBA roots started with the Raptors and the relationships I forged with former teammates like Alvin Williams. It is humbling to have the opportunity to come back,” Carter said in a release. “I am truly looking forward to being a part of the broadcasts.”

We’re soaring to new heights with NBA Hall of Famer & @Raptors legend, Vince Carter! 💫
You can catch ‘Vinsanity’ in the @Sportsnet broadcast booth for select games this season, starting tomorrow with the home opener at 7pm ET/4pm PT on Sportsnet 📺 pic.twitter.com/8QSd2FwQea
Carter is Toronto’s all-time points per game leader and was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this month.
He has done plenty of television work dating back to his time with the Atlanta Hawks at the tail end of his career. He worked on select FOX broadcasts in Atlanta during the 2020-21 season post-retirement and has also called NBA Summer League games and done in-studio work in Atlanta.
Williams, who hit the clutch shot that won the Raptors and Carter their first-ever playoff series victory (against the New York Knicks in 2001), previously joined Sportsnet broadcasts as an analyst alongside play-by-play man Matt Devlin in 2021-22.
