Jersey swap with Magic's Black wasn't meant to be mischievous, Dick insists

Gradey Dick said Sunday’s viral jersey swap with Orlando Magic guard Anthony Black was nothing untoward.

Dick, who is in his rookie season with the Toronto Raptors, was asked at a post-practice media availability on Tuesday about the swap by those on hand. Dick chuckled and then said of Black: “That’s my guy. I’ve been playing against and with him since my middle-school days.”

Both players are in their first seasons in the NBA and were both selected with a lottery pick last summer.

“That’s been my guy for a long time. Guys jersey swap with their boys. That’s my friend,” Dick said.

When asked if he planned to swap jerseys with anyone else this season, Dick said he was open to it.

“If I played with them growing up and they’re my guys, then I’ll jersey swap with them,” he said.

The pair swapped jerseys after Orlando beat Toronto for a second straight game last week, this one in Orlando.
