But that didn’t keep the club from making moves off the field.

Ahead of the league-mandated roster cut-down to 75 players plus draft-picks late Tuesday, the Stampeders released 12 players.

The following players have been released:

  • American receiver Daylen Baldwin
  • National defensive lineman Kwadwo Boahen
  • American defensive lineman Josh Carr Jr.
  • American defensive back Meiko Dotson
  • American running back Deshaun Fenwick
  • American receiver Mike Harley Jr.
  • American linebacker Alex Howard
  • American defensive lineman Savion Jackson
  • American defensive lineman Michael Mason
  • American defensive back Sam Mathews
  • American offensive lineman Deiyantei Powell-Woods
  • American offensive lineman Justin Shaffer

The Monday matinee also marks a return by new Stamps QB Vernon Adams Jr. to BC, where he played the last two seasons with the Lions.

The 10th-year CFL quarterback threw for 2,929 yards and 16 touchdowns with the Lions in 2024. That followed a super season a year earlier with the West Coast squad — whopping totals of 4,769 yards and 31 totals, both career-highs for Adams.

Now, he’s trying to re-create similar success with the Stampeders, beginning with Monday’s pre-season game if he, indeed, gets the call to arms in that game.

The Stamps have four QBs on their roster and want to get a look at all of them in the pre-season ahead of the regular-season start on Saturday, June 7, against the incoming Hamilton Tiger-Cats at McMahon Stadium (5 p.m., TSN, CHQR 107.3 FM/770 AM).

“I just like different energy and the different standard we have this year,” said Adams during training camp this week in Calgary. “You know … everyone knows we need to step it up this year, and we need to start from Day 1 and limit the complaining.

“And let’s just push each other — hold each other accountable.”

The Stamps have three days of training camp yet ahead of Monday’s pre-season contest — that being Thursday (9:20 a.m.), Friday (9:20 a.m.) and Saturday (9:20 a.m.) at McMahon Stadium.
