Tom Brady, still playing quarterback in the NFL at age 50?
“I don’t find it so difficult (at age 44). And plus, Florida is sorta a retire-y state, so I feel like I can play and then just glide into retirement.”
That answer expands on what Brady hinted at in February, in the week leading up to the Bucs’ blowout defeat of the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. For years Brady had said his career end-wall would be age 45. But asked that week if he’d reconsider, he answered:
“Yeah, definitely … you never know kind of when that moment (to retire) is, just because it’s a contact sport. A lot of training goes into it. And it has to be a 100% commitment from myself to keep doing it.
“I’ve been very fortunate over the years. (I) work really hard at making sure, physically, I can still perform at my best. Over the course of the year, you deal with various bumps and bruises and different injuries and so forth.”

Brady said in February that after age 45 it’s “just going to be” about whether he is willing to continue “to make that commitment to making it part of my year-round process.”
But in June, Brady offered a much less-optimistic take.
“Fifty? That’s a long time. Even for me, that’s a long time,” Brady said.
He and his celebrity wife, former supermodel Gisele Bundchen, are parents to a son, Benjamin, born in 2009 and a daughter, Vivian, born in 2012. Brady has a son (Jack, born in 2007) from his previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan, whom he sees frequently.
Brady started the new NFL season like gangbusters last Thursday night, throwing for 379 and four touchdowns in a defeat of the Dallas Cowboys.
