Bill Belichick family member drops Jordon Hudson comment as couple's war with CBS rages on

The ongoing drama between Bill Belichick, girlfriend Jordon Hudson, and CBS has now become a family affair.

A daughter-in-law of the NFL coaching legend has weighed in on the back-and-forth that has been escalating since Belichick’s interview with CBS Sunday Morning went viral earlier this week because of an interruption by Hudson – and the incident that aired reportedly was one of many.

On Wednesday, Jennifer Schmitt, the wife of Belichick’s son Stephen, seemingly threw shade at Hudson over her actions.

“Publicists act in a professional manner and don’t ‘storm’ off set delaying an interview,” Schmitt wrote, as reported by the New York Post.

Schmitt was commenting on Wednesday’s episode of the Dudes on Dudes podcast, which is hosted by former New England Patriots greats Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski.

The duo had come to the defence of their former coach and his much-younger girlfriend, saying that she had been “working” as the 73-year-old’s publicist.

Schmitt seemingly was referring to a report by TMZ that Hudson had at one point stormed off the set during the CBS interview, delaying production by a half-hour.

Stephen Belichick was put in the spotlight last month when his name surfaced in emails from Hudson regarding his hiring by the University of North Carolina.

In an email, which is of public record, Hudson expressed concern over the perception of nepotism in Stephen’s hiring and told the school to not use photos of Bill and Stephen in order to prevent “controversy.”

She also suggested that Stephen was not to be referred to as “Bill’s son.”

“I believe being strategic about the depiction of the Steve (sic) will prevent controversy and show upmost (sic) respect towards Steve’s career, validate Bill’s decision as a HC (head coach) to hire Steve,” she wrote.

Schmitt’s comment comes after back-and-forth statements from Belichick and CBS regarding the interview.

In a statement released through UNC, Belichick defended Hudson, saying that she was “simply doing her job” to keep the interview on track, and he alleged that the network had “selectively edited clips.”

He also claimed that CBS was attempting to push a “false narrative” painting Hudson as “attempting to control the conversation.”

Belichick said that he told a publicist at Simon & Schuster that any interviews he did for his book “would agree to focus solely” on the memoir – something that CBS flatly denied with its statement.

In a statement posted to X on Wednesday, the network denied Belichick’s claim, saying that the arrangement was for “a wide-ranging interview” that had “no preconditions or limitations.”

“When we agreed to speak with Mr. Belichick, it was for a wide-ranging interview.

“There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation. This was confirmed repeatedly with his publisher before the interview took place and after it was completed.”

During the interview with CBS that aired Sunday, Hudson interrupted interviewer Tony Dokoupil when he asked the NFL icon to talk about how he had met his much-younger flame.

“We’re not talking about this,” Hudson said from her seat off-camera.

“No?” Dokoupil replied as he looked over at Hudson, who responded, “No.”

Dokoupil also described Hudson as a “constant presence” during his interview with the eight-time Super Bowl champion and said neither of them were “comfortable” with the topic.
