It appears that this weekend’s awkward interview with CBS that went viral might just be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Jordon Hudson’s influence over Bill Belichick.
According to insiders who spoke to the New York Post, some people close to the NFL coaching legend are alarmed by how much the 24-year-old former cheerleader has inserted herself into every aspect of his life and career.
Some friends of the 73-year-old were “shaking their heads” even before the interview. The news outlet also revealed and that Belichick’s friends “are talking to him about her, but very gently because they know how deep in he is.”
The insider added that Hudson “saw an opening and she took it.”
Another source told the Post that the consensus among people around Belichick is that his relationship with Hudson is “alarming” and that she “is a runaway train.”
During an interview with CBS that aired on Sunday, Hudson interrupted interviewer Tony Dokoupil when he asked the NFL icon to talk about how he had met his much-younger flame.
“We’re not talking about this,” Hudson said from her seat off-camera.
“No?” Dokoupil replied as he looked over at Hudson, who responded, “No.”
The question was a follow-up to Dokoupil asking Belichick how he dealt with the added attention that the relationship has received, especially on social media.
“I’ve never been too worried about what everybody else thinks,” Belichick said. “I just try to do what I feel like is what’s best for me and what’s right.”
While CBS kept the interruption by Hudson in its broadcast, according to a report by Pro Football Talk it wasn’t the only time she made her presence felt.
“While we don’t know the total number of interruptions, it’s our understanding that CBS decided to include that one specific instance because it wasn’t a one-time thing,” PFT reported.
Dokoupil also said during the feature that aired that “Jordon was a constant presence during our interview.”
“This guy is known as being such a strong voice and in many ways autocratic — and here he is becoming mush in her hands and letting her direct everything,” the insider told the Post. “She is so much younger, so inexperienced and so lacking in perspective and professionalism.”
The insider also shared concerns over the amount of responsibilities that the eight-time Super Bowl winner has turned over to his new love.
“Here’s a guy who was used to having people take care of everything for him, including media requests,” the insider said about the ease with which Belichick began turning over responsibilities to Hudson, adding that she began “gaining more and more territory, filling a need that he had … and she was very aggressive.
“This CBS interview really exposed how bad things are and how much control that she’s been able to get. The optics were brutal.”
Earlier this month, eyebrows were raised when emails revealed a surprising new job title that Hudson was using in her email signature.
According to a report by The Athletic, Hudson’s email signature says that she is “chief operating officer of Belichick Productions” with a logo for the supposed company underneath.
According to the report, there are no registered business records associated with it.
Because Belichick serves as the University of North Carolina’s football coach, his emails are of public record. And, since the 73-year-old NFL icon has requested that Hudson be copied on all emails sent to him, the same rule also makes her correspondence.
The Post reached out to UNC for comment from both Belichick and Hudson.
