The hall of fame quarterback heaped praise on current NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes after the Kansas City Chiefs QB opted against endorsing a candidate in the coming U.S. presidential election.

Funnily enough, Favre himself has endorsed Trump in the past despite the fact that he has, on multiple occasions, said he believes sports were becoming “too political.”

“Good take by Mahomes — I see a lot of celebs trying to influence their audience instead of letting the people think for themselves. If the best choice for them ain’t clear and they’re easily swayed by their fav pop artist, it’s not going to be a good thing,” Favre posted on X in response to a clip of Mahomes’ comments.

During the video, Mahomes says: “I think I’ve always said I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever either way.”

He also said that he would use his platform instead to encourage people to vote.

“I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote, is to inform people to do their own research and then make their best decision for them and their family,” Mahomes said.

Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, has been linked to several displays of support for Trump on social media and even earned the former president’s praise during an interview last week, saying he “liked Brittany Mahomes much more” than Taylor Swift — whom the Mahomes had become close with after the pop star began dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce last year.

Swift has thrown her support behind U.S. vice president and Democratic party nominee Kamala Harris, appearing to have caused a division between Brittany and Swift, who have been seen sitting separately at games this season.

In 2020, Favre posted his endorsement of Trump on X (then Twitter), citing his stance on issues of freedom of speech, gun rights and support for the military and police.

“My Vote is for what makes this country great, freedom of speech and religion, the second amendment, hard-working tax-paying citizens, police and military. In this election, we have freedom of choice, which all should respect. For me and these principles, my vote is for (Donald Trump),” Favre wrote.
