CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It wasn’t exactly the text message that Jessica Hadwin was expecting to receive from her husband as she headed out the door with 5-year-old daughter Maddox to watch some PGA Championship golf at Quail Hollow on Friday morning.

“Book us flights,” the message from Adam Hadwin read.

It was that kind of day on the golf course for the Canadian PGA Tour pro and, seemingly, just another day in the always adventurous chronicles of life on tour for The Hadwins.

“Just getting our daughter and myself all ready and headed out the door to the course. My husband texting: ‘Book us flights,'” Jessica’s 9:45 a.m. post read on X, followed by the perfect popular golf meme of a surprised Jon Rahm.

Hadwin was in the first group off the tee at 7 a.m. for Friday’s second round, making par on his first three holes before bogeying five of the next six to shoot a front-nine 40 and fall to seven-over for the tournament, almost assuring a missed cut.

Over the past few years, Jessica has become a social media darling in golf circles as she documents the chaotic and usually humorous side of life with Adam, Maddox and the family’s (now three) dogs.

Just 20 hours earlier, Jessica tweeted a photo of Adam meeting his daughter at the airport as the family apparently called an audible to be together this week at the season’s second major.

“When you both need to see each other equally as much, we drop all plans and routine and go,” Jessica posted with a pic of Adam greeting his daughter after the flight.

A quick turnaround isn’t what they had hoped for, but the golfer Hadwin knew before the week that he had his work cut out for him the 7,626-yard Quail Hollow, a Charlotte golf course playing even longer after days of torrential rain softened the fairways and eliminated nearly any roll on drives.

“The biggest thing is the distance and how long the golf course is,” Hadwin said before the tournament.

It has been a tough season for Hadwin with just a single finish inside the top-25 this year and seeing his world ranking drop to 92nd.

“Mentally it’s taken its toll,” Hadwin said. “My game’s probably been better than it’s shown, but maybe it snowballs the wrong way sometimes.”

Hadwin went on to shoot 80 and miss the PGA Championship cut, but was greeted by smiling faces after his round.
